Broken Tooth
Avoid chewing on that side of your mouth. Avoid cold food and beverages. Try to consume only things that are lukewarm in temperature. Most broken teeth will not start hurting, but just be somewhat sensitive to temperature changes for a few days. Broken teeth in most cases will need to be crowned to protect them from further breakage and tooth loss. You should call the dental office as soon as possible for the tooth to be examined.
Crown Comes Off
Purchase a small tube of denture adhesive paste, such as fixodent. Place a small amount in the crown, and place it back on your tooth. The crown will need to be permanently recemented by a dental professional, so call the dental office as soon as you can.
Tooth Knocked Out
Locate tooth, keep it moist, and contact the dental offie as soon as possible. The sooner the tooth is placed back into the patient's mouth, the better the chance of saving the tooth.
Swollen Jaw
Place warm moist heat to the swollen area and call your dentist immediately, as you may have a dental infection. This may require you to be placed on antibiotics. Call the dental office with the number of a pharmacy that you are comfortable using.
Broken Denture
Save all parts of your broken denture and call the dental office. your denture will need to be sent to a dental lab for repair. This can usually be don in one to two business days.
Sore Gums
Go to the pharmacy or drug section of any retail store and purchase Peroxyl Oral Rinse. Dip your toothbrush in the peroxyl, using a 45 degree angle with the brisle tips to the gumline, massage the peroxyl into the affected area. After you have bushed, swish some of the peroxyl and empty into the sink. Call the dental office to make an appointment for the area to be examined if there is no improvement after a few days.
